In a stunning and impressive feat of timing and design, four Wisconsin Cumberland High School seniors managed to pull off a senior prank that has wowed the Internet. The teens recently worked together to create a very realistic-looking car accident, by arranging a white sedan so that it appeared to have crashed right into the front of their school.
In a Facebook post that has gone viral, the Cumberland Police Department tipped their hats to the ingenious prank and revealed images of what had them both startled and laughing on the morning of May 14.
The images show half of a white car sticking out of a black hole and surrounded by bricks and debris. You guys, it looks so real I did a double take. These kids are amazing.
“Hats off to the Cumberland High School Class of 2018 on your senior prank,” the Cumberland Police Facebook post caption reads. “Congratulations Class of 2018 on one of best senior pranks that Cumberland High School has seen. Congratulations to all the seniors who are graduating.”
When I was in high school way back in the 1990s, the graduating senior classes would pull amusing pranks that made for legendary stories. There was the year that kids put soap all up and down the main hallway, making it virtually impossible for anyone to get to class. Then there was that time the senior class broke into the principal’s office and “gift-wrapped” everything, from the desk to the stapler and even the flagpole in the corner. But to actually assemble a car wreck? WOW!
“We found out about the prank on Sunday night shortly after midnight, when a subject who works across the street from the school called it in as an accident,” a spokesperson from the Cumberland Police Department tells Babble. “The officer that arrived on scene laughed after he found out it was a prank.”
It wasn’t all for show, though: The students used the stunt to bring awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving. Smart!
The police thought so, too, saying, “It is an awesome way to get the anti-drinking message out during the graduation season.”
So, to Cumberland High School’s 2018 seniors, I give you a slow clap, friends! Bravo for this impressive prank as well as its sobering anti-drinking message.
